Mabry Castings added an automated Hunter 20 matchplate molding machine to its Beaumont, TX, operation. The ductile and gray iron foundry already operated two matchplate molding lines, a similar Hunter 20 machine and a Hunter 32, as well as a no-bake molding line..
Mabry management indicated that the new Hunter machine will allow it to double its output of ductile iron castings ranging from 1 to 40 lbs. Its products range in weight from 1 to 3,800 lbs. in all classes of ductile and grey iron, including the “stronger” grey iron classes, 40 and 50.
Mabry reports that the recent expansion of its green-sand molding department and pouring capabilities, and its adoption of lean manufacturing principles, have helped it to reduce delivery lead times by as much as 40%.
The foundry, located in Beaumont, TX, was acquired by Advanced Metals Group LLC in mid-2000. Its castings include valve bodies and pump housings, actuators, cable drums and off-highway automotive components. Mabry’s customers represent a range of markets, including: oil and gas, waterworks, agriculture, marine, automotive aftermarket, construction and equipment, machine tool, mining, and various commercial users.
